I met him at UCLA's book festival last year. He looked exactly like the author photos from the Bloom County books: shaggy hair, big sunglasses. He turned me down on my request to have him doodle an Opus on a book I was having signed for a friend. I didn't blame him: there were like two million people waiting in line to get their old Bloom County books signed by him.
