Drinking something becomes an integral part of having fun as one gets older. This is what I have found. It probably ought not to be this way. I would much rather it be the kind of skiptomylou, cockamamie laugh fest it used to be when we were young and fresh and thought all of our sober antics were superlatively funny. I still know some people like that. People who don't drink but are still zany and precocious and have a wicked sense of humor. They are often annoying to my sensibilities.

I think that was a little unfair, frankly. I know two people who do not drink and are more fun than 12 of my more drunk friends. They are slightly more neurotic too. Maybe drinking makes you less neurotic. I don't know. Anyhow, they do not annoy my sensibilities.
