No Sleep Till NewcastleWhen I was a kid on Hood Canal, I used to test our pump-action bb gun mercilessly on the crows. Crows are peculiarly smart birds, able to use simple tools to interesting ends. In fact, I read in a magazine once, that a crow will swoop down with a nut its beak, place the nut in front of a tire of a car waiting for the light to change, and pick up the cracked innards once the car has rolled away. Someone mentioned to me recently that a crow never forgets a tormentor. That if a person does something bad to a crow, then shows up a couple years later in a disguise, the aggrieved crow, if still around, will recognize and attack the person on sight. I've always wanted to go back to Hood Canal too. Bummer.
