New York is a city that never sleeps. It is also a city that never stops tearing down old buildings for the sake of new buildings. More often than not, the old buildings are these sturdy, interesting looking old brick numbers while their replacements look and feel like they are made of super glue, tinfoil and cardboard. This is happening all over town, and especially in my neighborhood.
I get really worried that all the construction dust is a toxic environment for my son while the money hungry desire to not revitalize older structures is toxic for our culture.

Something similar going on here in L.A. Although, there is a decent amount of refurbishing going on downtown.
