South African Mark, Spring Street Manhattan

For as long as I've known him, everyone has referred to Mark as South African Mark. Even people who have known him for years. For instance, I'll mention his full name in reference sometimes, like, "Hey, I saw Mark (insert-his-last-name-here) the other day and he said to say 'hi,'" and the person who I am talking to, a person who has known Mark for over two decades, will say, "who?" Then I'll say, "you know, South African Mark." And they'll say, "oh, him!"
