There is no such thing as idealistic humility. Humility is borne of pragmatism; of looking around and saying to oneself
I'd better not give that guy a hard time or I'll be in for it myself; of knowing that your time too is inevitably coming. Maybe after practicing this for long enough, one can do it without overt thoughts of self-preservation; without such conscious self-interest. This just goes to underline the point that everything we do, we do for ourselves first, pragmatically. And that's not a bad thing, procedurally.
