Blogging, much like everything else digitally communicative, stokes an inherent suspicion in the gut of my generation. It is kid's stuff, possibly unsafe and worse, hints at multiple Grand Guignol-esque follies like overt-nerdiness, celebrity-infatuation and, in the very worst case scenario, self-incrimination by way of the TMI sin. Basically, it lacks so much intellectual gravity as to be a negative mark on the scale.
I started this blog a little over three years ago with these apprehensions securely in place. So it is that this, my 500th posted web log, is a surprising development ripe for a nostalgic and self-congratulatory flurry that I will only partially indulge. I will simply say that this format has kept certain artistic and literary pretensions alive through the winter of my earlier thirties.
For this, I am grateful.

Happy 500th! It made me happy to read that blogging has fueled your artistic stoke during the winters. Maybe you could get a cake that says "Happy 500th Ok Oh!" I wonder if anyone has done that before, as a funny joke.
happy 500
Muchas gracias amigas.
