The Mexicans have taken to gathering in front of my apartment in bright white shirts, stepping off the bus right in front of my windows. There is a leader with a megaphone and he speaks Mexican Spanish to them and there is a car with loud speakers and it plays loud Mexican music. There are police officers on scooters and they shake hands with the Mexican with the megaphone. Then the car starts to roll and the crowd starts to jog and they jog away and down the street, chanting. On the hood of the car is stretched a Mexican flag. On the top of the car, fastened and standing upright, festooned with green garlands and Christmas lights, is a placard with the Mexican Virgin of Guadalupe printed on it. They have come twice in three weeks. I guess it's possible they could have come three times in three weeks and maybe I wasn't around my apartment for the second coming. It is always good to consider the possibilities.
