The Ok Oh Everard Findlay Breakfast Interview 11ish AM November 18, 2oo8

(sounds of indie pop over the speakers, sounds of a cafe cups)
Ok Oh: Ok.
Everard: Yeah.
Ok Oh: So um, so, how old is your little girl?
Everard: She's 18 months.
Ok Oh: And her name's Isa.
Everard: Isa, yeah.
Ok Oh: And that's short for something?
Everard: Isadora.
(someone walks by, shakes Ev's hand, "good good good, good to see you too man...")
Everard: . . .Isadora.
Ok Oh: And what't it like being a father?
Everard: Oh man, it's amazing. It's um, well you know, I was really afraid at first, especially when I found I was having a little girl, because I grew up in a house with all brothers, three brothers . . .
Ok Oh: yeah
Everard: . . .but now now, uh, she's pretty tough. . .
(laughing)
Everard: . . .so. . .
Ok Oh: So my son knows that part.
Everard: Oh yeah, so I'm not worried anymore, I'm excited yeah.
Ok Oh: So do you get to hang out with her a lot?
Everard: Um , not as much as 'd like to, but she spends the entire day in the office, with me and the girls (Everard's assistants). . .
Ok Oh: Rummaging around. . .
Everard: Rummaging around, breaking stuff and, (laughing) um, on the computer most of the time, so yeah. Then she goes and plays in the park, it's fun. Every Monday I take her to a gymnastics class. . .
Ok Oh: yeah.
Everard: And that's a lot of fun, we get to spend a lot of time together.
Ok Oh: Do you get to tumble around with her?
Everard: Yeah. We tumble around together, we . . . I don't know, just to watch her development is pretty great, you know? I get to kind of partake in the class and help the teacher, keeping everybody in line.
(laughing)
Ok Oh: Of course you do.
(laughing)
Ok Oh: That's who you are man.
Everard: yeah yeah yeah, trying. . .
Ok Oh: keeping everyone in line. Whatsuh, what's she call you?
Everard: um, I don't . . .
Ok Oh: does she call you papa or daddy or. . .
Everard: I don't think she calls me anything just yet.
(laughing)
Ok Oh: Really?
Everard: I think its more, like, I think she's really more into Molly than anything else, but I hear that's gonna change (laughing) when she gets a little older. She kind kind of grunts when she wants me, puts her hands out. . .
Ok Oh: So it's kind of gutteral.
Everard: She does say da da, da da,
Ok Oh: Oh, she does?
Everard: Yeah, she does say da da. . . but not like, I don't think it's really a word for me, like, you know, it'a kind of like when she wants me, but I don't think she really means it as Daddy, its just like a word she says. . .
Ok Oh: yeah
Everard: I try to get her to say Papa a few times but it didn't work, so I'm just waiting.
Ok Oh: You gotta just stick with it.
Everard: Yeah, I'll stick with it.
Ok Oh: Yeah. That's cool man.
(laughing)
Ok Oh: So when's her birthday?
Everard: In the spring.
Ok Oh: In the spring, wow, that's crazy.
Everard: Yeah.
Ok Oh: It's neat though, isn't it?
Everard: It's amazing though, it's amazing. It's like, like I look at her everyday and she's changing everyday and she's so beautiful, and I'm like how the junk did I do that?
(laughing)
Everard: Yeah, and that's like the greatest thing I ever did, and I didn't do anything (laughing) I mean, you know what I mean? (laughing) Because I look at her and I think oh wow she is so amazing.
Ok Oh: well, she's beautiful.
Everard: yeah, she is so beautiful, she looks like her mother (pause) just with a tan.
(laughing)
Everard: So it's really fun.
(more laughing)
Ok Oh:
Uh huh, that's cool.
Everard: And I feel like it's so exciting what's happening in the world you know, just with, what happened with you know, um. . . for Molly and I we feel so happy for her because what happened with Barak Obama and everything and she's, you know, and she can grow up and not have to deal with a lot of other issues because it really set the tone for certain things.
Ok Oh: Totally.
Everard: Yeah.
Ok Oh: Totally.
Everard: It's kind of great, you know?
Ok Oh: It's great.
Everard: Because you know, it's like it's her time.
Ok Oh: It is indeed.
Everard: yeah yeah yeah.
Ok Oh: They're gonna be world breakers.
Everard: Yeah, wow, well, yeah it's pretty great. And I guess when she hangs out with Miel she gets pretty tough.
Ok Oh: She does get a little tough.
Everard: Because she gets pushed down.
Ok Oh: Miel's into it.
(laughing)
Ok Oh: Alright, thanks.
Everard: Yeah man.
(microphone switches off)

I find this interview so completely funny if for all the "yeah mans" and "wows" and "totallys"

Really unriveting stuff.
Also funny as that photos is another distortion type where the sitter changes position mid way through (he was on the pphne.)
