Morning Things

This morning, after taking my dog for a walk and walking my wife to the train, I got back home and put on the burner what was left of half a piece of pepperoni pizza from five days ago. I put the heat on really low, flipped on the radio and took a shower. The shower lasted a little longer than I had anticipated since my mouth felt pretty dirty and I washed my teeth with the electric toothbrush for two 2 minute cycles. When I got out, the bottom of the pizza was burned up but the top looked pretty perfect so I took the pepperoni and the cheese off and ate just that, throwing away the blackened dough part. Afterwards I was still a little hungry so I ate some of the trail mix my wife's sister left in the cupboard. I thought it would be pretty healthy stuff but it turned out to have chocolate and caramel chips in it and they weren't even carob or organic or anything. The ingredients told me the chips were pretty packed with normal bad sugars and chemicals. But I had the bug to eat a little more and there was some left over chocolate pie that Jesse had left in our fridge from Saturday and I had a couple bits of that. Then I started feeling a little gross and on my way to the train I decided that I ought to take all the sugary foods out of my kitchen and throw them away. Then I had second thoughts because what if my wife gets a sweet tooth?

On the corner of Bowery I was walking right next to a woman and there was a lady traffic cop yelling at a car. The woman I was walking next to thought the traffic cop was yelling at her. Once the traffic cop noticed that the woman was worried she was doing something wrong the traffic cop said "Oh not you, I am talking to the driver" and they both laughed.

On the corner of Elizabeth Street there were two black guys and a Puerto Rican standing in a line and another, older Puerto Rican had a small camera on a tripod taking a photo of them. I could tell the black guys weren't Puerto Rican since they sounded like black guys and the two Puerto Ricans were talking fast Puerto Rican Spanish to each other and the two black guys didn't seem to understand a word of it. I couldn't tell for the life of me what they were taking a photo for since they all looked pretty normal. Sometimes people take photos on street corners for album covers but these guys didn't look like they were doing that. Either way they were standing in this little patch of sun and they looked like they were having a great time of it. I mean, it really looked like fun.
